Journal Article 2023 11 19 The greater date moth ArenipsessabellaHamps (Pyralidae: Lepidoptera) is considered one of the pests of the date palm in<br />The greater date moth <em>Arenipses sabella</em> Hamps (Pyralidae: Lepidoptera) is considered one of the pests of the date palm in date groving areas of Iran.Recently, the field observations and farmers' complaints indicated that this pest become a major pest in Khuzestan provice, attacking the date trees and causes yield losses in the early stages of date growth. In this study, the feeding activity of overwintering larvae of <em>A. sabella</em> on wooden texture of young offshoots, varieties Barhi, during winter in December and January 2021, is reported. Due to the feeding activities of larvae under the bark, burrowing into the base of fronds in the lower section of offshoots, the exit of plant sap from the feeding place, presence of larval webs and excrement cause pollution. In the offshoot and samples with a large populations, the activity of two or three simultaneously on crabs, causes weakness and destruction of crabs. In this study, the feeding activity of <em>A. sabella</em> larvae on fresh wounds of the offshoot and their presence in winter in this section of date palm are reported for the first time in Iran. شب پره بزرگ خرما <em>Aphomia sabella</em> Hampson (Lep. : Pyralidae) یکـی از آفـات نخل خرما در مناطق خرماخیز کشـور می­باشد. در سال­های اخیر مشاهدات صحرایی و گزارش نخل‌داران نشان می­دهد خسارت کرم گرده خوار در استان خوزستان بسیار افزایش یافته و سالانه خسارت اقتصادی به نخل خرما در ابتدای فصل رشد وارد می­نماید. طی نمونه­برداری در آذر و دی ماه سال 1399روی پاجوش­های جوان رقم برخی در آبادان، تغذیه و فعالیت لاروهای آفت بررسی گردید. با بررسی دقیق تعداد زیادی از پاجوش­­ها و نیز کالبدشکافی محل خسارت، دالان‌های لاروی همراه با فضولات و تارهای لاروی دربافت سفت و چوبی کرب­های داخلی پاجوش مشاهده گردید. خروج شیره گیاهی از محل تغذیه، حضور تار و فضولات لاروی سبب آلودگی و در جمعیت زیاد به دلیل فعالیت دو تا سه لارو روی یک کرب، سبب ضعف و ازبین رفتن کرب‌های پاجوش شد. این اولین گزارش از فعالیت چوب‌خواری لاروهای کرم گرده خوار خرما و خسارت آن­ها روی کرب پاجوش خرما در ایران است. https://jaenph.areeo.ac.ir/article_130567_c7e77535f3b2515c338557d22bb45516.pdf
