Aims and Scope
The Journal of Applied Entomology and Phytopathology (Appl Entomol Phytopathol), established primarely in 1946, is a double-blind peer-reviewed semiannual journal, owned, managed & published by Iranian Research Institute of Plant Protection (IRIPP). The journal publishes original research articles that lead to the novel knowledge, innovation and understanding of the field of Plant Protection and Related Pests and Diseases. The journal scope includes but not restricted to, the following areas:
Journal of Applied Entomology and Phytopathology is accredited by the Scientific Publications Commission of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology. The journal has been ranked as Grade A in the latest evaluation of science, research and technology.

The Journal of Applied Entomology and Phytopathology is owned, managed and published by published by Iranian Research Institute of Plant Protection (IRIPP).
Plant protection studies in the country were established in 1923 under the title "Local Pest Diagnosis and Control Administration". In 1927, this administration was renamed "Pest Eradication Institute" and took on both research and operational roles. Notably, in 1934 and 1935, it conducted the first and most successful biological control operation by introducing the Rodalia cardinalis ladybird beetle in northern parts of the country. In 1943, the "Entomology and Plant Pest Control Laboratory" was established under the direct supervision of the Minister of Agriculture. In 1945, with the addition of several foreign specialists and graduates from the Faculty of Agriculture, the collection and study of insects gained momentum. This laid the foundation for the Insect Museum, which now houses more than 4 million insect specimens and serves as the country’s only official scientific reference for insect identification. That same year, efforts to collect and study plants and fungi began. In 1948, the foundation was laid for a valuable herbarium within the Plant Research Department, which has since been internationally recognized under the IRAN identifier and gained global acclaim. The Entomology and Plant Pest Control Laboratory was upgraded in 1949 to the Pest Investigation Department and later to the General Directorate of Pest Investigation. On 7th of April 1962, a government resolution officially renamed it the Institute for the Study of Plant Pests and Diseases. In 2006, the institute adopted its current name: Iranian Research Institute of Plant Protection. Currently, the Iranian Research Institute of Plant Protection is one of the oldest research institutions in the country. With 300 faculty members and researchers, it operates 11 central departments and 28 regional departments across the country. Annually, it conducts more than 300 national, regional, and international research projects aimed at improving and securing food production while actively contributing to the nation's agricultural sector.
Journal History
The journal is one of the oldest in this field in the region. It was originally established in 1946 and published in French under the title "Entomologie et Phytopathologie Appliquées" (ISSN: 0013-8800). In 1989, the journal's language changed to English, adopting its current title, "Applied Entomology and Phytopathology" (ISSN: 1026-5007).
