Abstract

The two-spotted spider mite, Tetranychus urticae (Koch), is one of the key polyphagous agricultural pests with a high reproductive capacity and rapid resistance development to pesticides, posing a serious challenge in pest management. Cyflumetofen, an acaricide belonging to the methyl diphenyl oxazoline group, acts by disrupting the mitochondrial electron transport chain and, due to its relatively low toxicity to natural enemies, is considered a suitable option in integrated pest management (IPM). However, limited information is available regarding its sublethal effects on the biological and population parameters of this pest. In the present study, the effects of three sublethal concentrations of cyflumetofen (LC5, LC15 and LC25) (based on active ingredient) on the life table parameters of T. urticae were evaluated under laboratory conditions. The results showed that exposure to cyflumetofen caused significant changes in developmental duration, reduced adult longevity, and shortened the total life cycle. Reproductive parameters, including oviposition period and total fecundity, were also significantly reduced, as the number of eggs laid decreased from 29.97 in the control treatment to 17.61 in the LC25 treatment. Population parameter analysis also showed that the net reproductive rate (R₀) declined from 15.74 offspring per female in the control to 5.73 offspring per female in LC25. Likewise, the intrinsic rate of increase (r) and finite rate of increase (λ) decreased from 0.286 and 1.331 in the control treatment to 0.197 and 1.218 in LC25, respectively. However, the mean generation time (T) did not differ significantly among treatments. Survival and fecundity curve analyses indicated .....
