[English]

The English grain aphid, Sitobion avenae (F.) (Hemiptera: Aphididae), is a numerous aphid in wheat fields of Iran. Population growth modeling is of importance in integrated pest management programs, so this study was carried out to develope appropriate models for predicting population of S. avenae in wheat fields of Mahidasht region of Kermanshah. In order to modellig aphid population, weekly sampling was carried out to count its number on 10,000 wheat tillers in a two-hectare field during five years. Based on the results, Exponential and Logistic models were not suitable for predicting the aphid population, but both Normal and Hyperbolic Secant Square models were confirmed based on statistical and biological criteria and so, they can be used to predict the aphid population in wheat fields of Mahidasht region of Kermanshah provicd and other regions with similar climates duo to presenting a logical description of S. avenae population fluctuations in whole season.
